The core offer
Spontaneous
XC Days
On days when it really works. The forecast decides, not the calendar.
I check the forecast every day. When a day shows up that has something to offer, I announce it: five days before the heads-up, three days before the plan with the region, 48 hours before the binding announcement with route and meeting point. You say yes if the day works for you.
An XC Day is usually one day: a crossing over the main Alpine ridge, a round into the next valley or a longer route, depending on what the day offers. The preparation is done by the time we meet.

The lead-up
How an announcement comes about
Five days ahead a forecast is a hunch. That’s why I announce in three stages: the closer the day, the more binding.
- 01About 5 days before
The heads-up
I let you know which days of the week have potential. Region and route are still open.
You: Check whether one of the days works for you at all.
- 023 days before
The plan
The situation takes shape. I narrow down the region and ask who could make it.
You: Tell me whether you would be in. And keep the day free.
- 0348 h before
The announcement
From 3 people the day is on: region, route, meeting point, time. I confirm your place.
You: Now say a firm yes. Or cancel.
- 04On the day
Flying
Briefing the evening before, a check at launch, then the flight. In the evening the debrief.
You: Come and fly.
How you hear about it
Get the announcements
The announcements go out through the WhatsApp community “Spontane XC Days”: five days ahead the heads-up, three days ahead the plan, 48 hours ahead the binding announcement with region, route and meeting point. Only I can post there and the others can’t see your number.
No WhatsApp? Then I send you the same announcements by email: that’s what the second button is for.
The first announcements go out from February 2027. Anyone who joins now reads them first.
- An announcement says that a day has potential, it is not a clearance to launch. You decide at launch whether you fly.
- Requirements: a valid licence, checked equipment, your own third-party liability, accident and rescue insurance.
- You fly on your own responsibility. I accompany and coach, I don’t train pilots and I don’t replace a flying school.
From 3 people a day goes ahead. With the confirmation the terms and conditions apply.
The day itself
How the flying day runs
What happens between launch and landing is decided by the day. The routine around it is always the same.
- The evening before
- We meet online for the briefing: the situation of the day, the route, the hazards, the landing options. Plan A, Plan B and Plan Z. You go to sleep with the route and the weather in your head and know what your own goal for tomorrow is.
- In the morning
- Meeting point and time have been fixed since the announcement. You travel there yourself: let me know if you have a free seat in your car or need one, then I put you in touch.
- At launch
- We stand together briefly once more and compare: what from the evening before still holds, what looks different than expected? Only then is the plan for today set and everyone knows what to watch for.
- In the air
- We launch together. Where it helps, I fly ahead and show you the line and at the spots where you learn something, I let you decide: where you climb out, where you cross, when you turn back. It’s your flight that gets flown, not mine.
- We talk to each other
- So that this works up there too, we communicate over the Zello app, so over your phone. The push-to-talk button for it is my gift to you; it stays yours, also for flights without me. I lend you the Shokz headset for the day: microphone on, ears stay free. Where there is no signal, we fall back on PMR radio. You get the radio for it from me for the day.
- If it doesn’t work out
- An outlanding is part of it and is not a failure. I choose the areas so that the public transport connection works. After an outlanding you get in touch with me and we sort out the way back.
- In the evening
- The debrief, for me the most important part of the day. We lay the tracks side by side and you talk first: how the day felt, where you were unsure. Then we look at what the track says about it. At the end you take three things with you for next time, no list of mistakes.
An XC Day is one day. If the weather holds, we add a second: same region, new route. On the second day you notice how much of the first has stuck.
If a longer good spell is on the way, I announce an XC camp over four days instead of single days. Camps are in the calendar. They get announced spontaneously in just the same way.
What an XC Day asks of you is flexibility: the binding announcement comes 48 hours before and then the day should be free. If your calendar doesn’t allow that, the XC camps with fixed dates are set well in advance. Both are fine.
I fly with you, I don’t fly for you. Launch, route, turning back and landing are yours to decide: my assessment is a recommendation, not a clearance.
Prices
What a day costs
First day CHF 300. Each further consecutive day CHF 250.
The first day carries travel, preparation and coordination. If we stay in the same area, that falls away and you pay less.
| 1 day | CHF 300 | CHF 300 per day |
|---|---|---|
| 2 days | CHF 550 | CHF 275 per day |
Per person. From 3 people, maximum 6. Travel, accommodation, cable cars and food not included. From three consecutive days it becomes a camp with its own price.
Request, confirmation, invoice
You request the day and tell me where you stand as a pilot. I check whether it suits you and then confirm your place. The invoice follows afterwards, no rush. From my confirmation on I count you in: I plan the day around the people who are coming. With a flying days card the day is already paid.
